On Tuesday 28th November, members of the Rwenzori Women’s Leaders Peace Forum and the Rwenzori Youth Leaders Forum were hosted on Jubilee FM for an hour long talk show.
The topic of discussion “GBV: causes, effects and preventive measures at a glance.”
The conversation highlighted the importance of keeping girls in school as a way of fighting GBV.
According to UNICEF Uganda, approximately 35 percent of girls drop out of school because of early marriage and 23 percent because of early pregnancy.
When teenage girls drop out of school, they are less likely to participate in the labor force which affects them economically in the long term, keeping them in a cycle of poverty; which is a leading cause of GBV in the home.
