Joyce has previously served as a legal officer with a number of organizations in Uganda including the Alliance for Integrated Development and Empowerment-Uganda, the Uganda Network on Law, Ethics and HIV, and the Uganda Association of Women Lawyers-FIDA.
Joyce’s time at FIDA provided her with experience in conducting community dialogues and forums on women’s land and property rights and in developing legal handbooks targeted towards paralegals, district officials, and women and girls groups.
Joyce is an advocate of both the High Court of Uganda and subordinate courts. As a member of the Uganda Law Society, the East African Law Society and the Gender Based Violence Prevention Network Forum. Joyce has attended a number of trainings in policy advocacy, land conveyance, human rights, community mobilization, and entrepreneurship.
She holds a post-graduate diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Center in Kampala, Uganda and a bachelor’s of law (LLB) from Makerere University.
