Women Forum as they sensitise communities abut GBV

On Wednesday, the Women Forum members visited two sub-counties that is; Kabonero and Katebwa in Kabarole district.

They sensitized communities, leaders on information and roles towards fighting/preventing Gender Bashed Violence in their communities.

Some of the issues they highlighted that commonly cause Gender Based Violence are;

Girls forced into early marriages because of poverty.

Drug abuse amongst the youths.

Cultural influence and stereo typing between boys and girls.

The USAID SAFE Program is supporting the Rwenzori Women and Youth Leaders Peace Forums to take a leading role in the 16 Days Campaign against GBV 2017 – Free Uganda’s Adolescent Girls from GBV.
